Tigers Comeback Falls Short Against Vaqueros
No. 5-ranked Riverside City College made costly errors in a 12-7 loss to Santa Barbara City College Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers drop to 16-7 overall, while the Vaqueros improve to 15-8 on the year.
Riverside finished with eight hits, but five errors in the game. Danny Inzunza (2-for-5) and Logan Clear (2-for-5, 4 RBIs) both led the Tigers with two hits, while Alex Gamez (1-for-3), Parker Sobiesiak (1-for-5), Dane Lujan (1-for-2), and Darin Osterloh (1-for-1) also had hits in the game.
The Tigers didn't really find their rhythm until the bottom of the ninth, but it was a little too late as the Vaqueros held a 12-3 lead.
With two runners on and two outs, Lujan doubled to left field to score one run, before Osterloh loaded the bases with a free trip to first on ball four. Clear then drilled a double to left center, scoring all three runners. SBCC squashed the rally, however, after taking down the next batter to seal the 12-7 result.
RCC looks to shake it off as it heads to Pasadena City College on Friday for a 1 p.m. contest.
