PITCHING WOES CONTINUE FOR MARAUDERS

VENTURA - Marauder softball head coach Cindy Vargas probably said it best.

"It was a tough day for our pitchers," she said.

A combined 22 walks and five hit batters will do that to you.

The Marauders dropped two games on Saturday, 5-4, to Santa Ana and 13-1 to Cypress, the No. 1 team in southern California at the Ventura College Tournament.

AVC outhit Santa Ana in the first game but lost the game due to time limit following a walk-off walk.

Against the Chargers in the second game, AVC pitchers combined for 15 walks, but gave up only six hits.

"You won't see it in the box score, but we hit the ball very hard against a good pitcher,"  Vargas said. "They have a very strong defense and offense as well proving why they are No. 1."

The Marauders, No. 5 ranked team in the state in batting average, were held to only two hits.
