The MSJC baseball team suffered a pair of walk-off loses last week as the team hits the midway point of Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles lost two of three in a key conference series against College of the Desert and dropped a non-league road game at Santa Ana.

MSJC started the week on Tuesday with a trip to Desert where they lost to the Roadrunners 8-4. Juni Rodriguez continued to shine in the batter's box as he blasted two more home runs and drove home three of the Eagle's runs.

Thursday MSJC bounced back at home as they defeated Desert 10-7. Kaden Spencer drove in a team high three in the win while Ty Mattson added a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Derek Hurtado also got two hits and drove home two, catcher Luke O'Brien had three hits. Marcos Cisneros earned the pitching victory as he threw two scoreless innings without allowing a hit.

Friday the Eagles jumped out of conference play and took a trip to Santa Ana where they lost 8-7 when the Dons scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. MSJC had battled back to tie the game at 7-7 with three runs in the top of the ninth prior to giving up the game winner. Louie Arias hit a homerun and picked up two RBIs while Rodriguez also drove in two. Hurtado had three extra base hits in the game with a triple and a pair of doubles.

The Eagles wrapped up the busy week on Saturday with a return trip to the Desert, but again a late rally came up short as they fell 8-7. This time it was the eighth inning where MSJC rallied for three runs to tie the game, but again a run by the home team in the bottom of the ninth cost the Eagles a victory. Ryan Rangel had a triple and a double while driving home three runs in the game. Arias added two RBIs.

The Eagles are now 10-16 overall on the season and 7-5 in IEAC play. MSJC has reached the halfway point of the conference schedule and will play a three-game series against Barstow this week. The Eagles will travel to Barstow on Tuesday and Saturday and host the Vikings on Thursday.
