
Giants split doubleheader against Fresno City
It was a battle of two rivals as Fresno City made the trip to Visalia to play COS.
The two teams each took a game, splitting Thursday's doubleheader. Sequoias still maintain their second place position in the CVC standings with Thursday's results.
Game One: The Giants got off to a hot start in game one scoring two runs in the first inning en route to a 3-1 victory.
Brittney Howerd led the charge going 2-for-3 at the dish with 1 RBI.
Ashley Paradine threw a complete game shutout, and helped herself at the plate, driving in an RBI.
Game Two: Six errors for each team allowed the game to go to extra innings, with Fresno City coming out on top 7-6.
Paradine was back in the circle for COS in game two, and the Giants looked to be in control after two innings.
COS led 5-0 going into the third, before Fresno City cut the deficit to two runs in the top half of the frame.
The Rams forced the game to extra innings by scoring two runs in the seventh inning.
After a scoreless eighth inning, Fresno City took a 7-5 lead in the ninth inning.
Sequoias got a run back in the bottom of the ninth on a fielding error allowing Howerd to come in.
However, the Giants could not find a way to push across the tying run.
Paradine got the defeat, and her record now stands at 11-5 on the season.
Next Up: COS will host Reedley on Tuesday with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
