Warriors Take Series Opener over East Los Angeles

TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors rebounded from last week's sweep against Mt. Sac by taking the series opener against East Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors improved to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in SCC play. 

Cameron O'Neil shoved for six shutout innings to lead the Warriors pitching. He allowed just six hits, one walk, and fanned five batters. Kona Agena got the three inning saves after tossing three scoreless frames in relief of O'neil.

Matt Hammond led the Warriors with a 3-for-4 day and scored three runs. Gio Crow went 2-for-3 at the dish 1 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Gil Solis went 2-for-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Matt Hammond led the inning off with a base hit and got to second on a wild pitch. Gio Crow smack a double down the LF line that scored Hammond to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors added three more runs in the fourth inning. Hammond once again led the inning off with a base hit. Gil Solis hit a base to give the Warriors two runners. Gio Crow hit a double over the left fielder that scored Matt Hammond to make it 2-0. The Warriors benefitted from an error by the third basemen on what should've been out three on a 5-3 putout but instead was a throwing error that scored two more runners to make it a 4-0 game.

The Warriors added two more runs in the fifth inning. They got three straight base hits with one out from Lucas Bonham, Matt Hammond, and Caden Lewis to laod the bases. Gil Solis brougth one run in on a RBI knock to center field and Gio Crow brought the final run for the Warriors in on a sac fly to center field.

The series shifts over to East Los Angeles on Thursday before returning back to Warrior Field on Saturday. First pitch for Thursday is set for 2:00 p.m.
