A challenging game led to a heartbreaking defeat as the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team fell 2-1 to Cerritos College for their first loss of the season on Tuesday, October 15. With this result, their record stands at 9-1-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

The match began on a positive note for the Mounties, as Jon Jay Joseph scored in the 16th minute, assisted by Kenneth Flores, giving Mt. SAC an early 1-0 lead. However, the momentum shifted in the second half when Cerritos responded with two late goals.

Jose Lopez equalized for Cerritos in the 75th minute, finishing off a play set up by Pedro Reyes. Just eight minutes later, Lopez struck again with an assist from Cesar Solarzano Garcia, securing the 2-1 victory for the Falcons.

Despite dominating in shots with a total of 10 to Cerritos' seven, the Mounties struggled to capitalize, managing only four shots on target. Goalkeeper Alex Ledesma made three saves during the match.

The intensity of South Coast Conference Soccer was evident, as Cerritos received two yellow cards, while Mt. SAC's Andrew Garcia was shown a red card.

Ranked No. 1, the Mounties are eager to bounce back when they host Rio Hondo, who currently holds a record of 1-11-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play, on Friday, October 18.
