SOFTBALL: HORNETS SLIDE PAST TIGERS
FC catcher Anissa Loera blasted a two-run home run in the top of the fourth and starting RHP Brigid Ruiz made it stand up in a much-needed Orange Empire Conference 2-1 road win on Wednesday.
Fullerton (14-8 overall, 5-5 OEC) opened the scoring when DP Evelyn Hernandez drew a one-out walk. Loera stepped up to the plate and cracked the first pitch over the left-field-fence giving the Hornets a 2-0 edge.
Ruiz owned the circle going the distance for her eighth complete game of the season only allowing 6 hits, an earned run, 2 walks, and a strikeout.
Riverside (7-15 overall, 2-8 OEC), tallied its lone run in the bottom of the fourth on centerfielder Michelle Paul's walk and then scored on a double to center from catcher Hunter LaCroix.
Up Next: Fullerton returns to action on Thursday, March 19th for another OEC match-up hosting Saddleback College. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
