The MSJC softball team has won two of their last three games and eight of their last nine as they get set to start play in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference this week.
The Eagles saw their six-game winning streak end last Tuesday as they traveled to Antelope Valley and lost 12-4. MSJC had a brief lead in the contest at 2-1 in the top of the second inning, but it didn't last long as the Marauders offense had a big day. For the Eagles Trinity Barnes led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
MSJC bounced back on Saturday with a five-inning run rule win against Compton 9-1. The Eagles broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third when they scored four runs and then a single run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to end the game. Bailey Heuer, Madison Morris, and Laila Andrade each drove home two runs each. Barnes and Amy Naranjo both picked up two hits. Ellianna Pasley earned the pitching victory as she allowed just one run and one hit in four innings of work.
The Eagles started this week with a 6-1 road win over East Los Angeles. MSJC trailed 1-0 after three innings but rallied to score three in the top of the fourth and went on to add three in the top of the seventh to earn the win. Morris had three RBIs on the day while Heuer added two hits and an RBI. Brooke Schaffer also drove home a run for the Eagles.
MSJC is now 11-4 on the season and have four games on the schedule this week. Wednesday MSJC is set to travel to Ridgecrest to take on Cerro Coso in a doubleheader. The second game of the day will be played as a non-conference contest. Friday the Eagles are slated to host San Bernardino Valley at noon and two in an IEAC doubleheader at Menifee.
