Sacramento City Cruises Past Modesto, 6-1

Sacramento City continued its strong start to conference play with a 6-1 victory over Modesto on March 6, improving to 13-8 (4-1 conference) while Modesto fell to 6-11 (0-5 conference).

Wilson, Burke Dominate on the Mound

Sacramento City's Brady Wilson (2-0) delivered a stellar outing, pitching six no-hit innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing just one unearned run. Dylan Burke came in for the save, tossing three innings of scoreless relief while surrendering three hits and striking out three.

Early Modesto Lead Fades Quickly

Modesto struck first in the top of the first inning when Ny'Zaiah Thompson led off with a walk, stole second, and later scored on a Titus Wheelock double play. That would be the only run Modesto managed all game.

Sacramento City Takes Control in the Second

The Panthers responded quickly, plating three runs in the bottom of the second.

  • In the fourth inning, Sacramento City extended the lead to 4-1 when Portwood scored on a passed ball.
  • Two more runs came in the seventh, as another passed ball allowed Drake to score, and Levi Sotomayor drove in Cal Elvis with an RBI single to make it 6-1.
