The MSJC football team made it three straight wins on Saturday as they defeated Grossmont in their first road game of the season 27-14.

The Eagles took the lead in the first period when Sherod White scored on an 11 yard touchdown run that capped off an 8 play 70 yard drive.  Early in the second quarter it was the Eagle defense who got on the board as Darryl Moody returned an interception 35 yards for an MSJC TD to increase the lead to 13-0.  That's where the score would stay as the teams went to the locker room at halftime.

Grossmont would take advantage of good field position in the third quarter to cut the Eagle lead to 13-7 when they scored on a short 6 play 19 yard drive with just under four minutes to play in the period.  The Eagles would respond with a pair of fourth quarter TDs of their own as Brett Virgil connected with C.J. Sullivan for a 6 yard scoring pass with 3:24 left to play, and then the defense would get the ball right back after they forced a quick four and out, highlighted by a sack from Steven Bradshaw and Jeremyah Wilson.  White scored his second touchdown of the day just four plays later on a 3 yard run and the Eagles led 27-7.  The Griffons added a late touchdown to make the final 27-14.

The Eagle defense allowed just 186 yards of total offense by Grossmont on the day and had 3 sacks and 3 interceptions.  Bradshaw led the team in tackles with 12, he had 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble.  Moody had two picks and Nate Anderson also collected an INT.  On offense Virgil finished the game 20 of 36 through the air for 239 yards, Sullivan had 7 receptions for 94 yards and Javier Luna caught 6 passes for 68 yards.  On the ground White led the way with his second 100 yard day of the season as he gained 102 on 21 carries, Virgil added 50 yards rushing.

The Eagles are now 3-0 on the season and will hit the road again Saturday when they travel to Glendale.  The game at Glendale on the 28th is set to kick off at 1 pm.
