In a thrilling showdown, the No. 3 Long Beach City College men's water polo team edged out No. 8 Mt. San Antonio College with a 13-12 victory on Wednesday afternoon, advancing their South Coast Conference record to 3-0.
Attacker Colley Ochoa led the Vikings with three goals and five pivotal steals, while attackers Sandro Pueyo and Louis Hackett also netted three goals each, helping secure the hard-fought win.
Goalkeeper Diogo Checchinato delivered a standout performance in the cage, recording seven key saves.
"It was a tough battle against Mt. SAC," said Hackett. "They closed the gap in the middle of the game, but we kept pushing and ultimately came away with the win."
The Vikings will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, as they host the Long Beach Mini Tournament, facing West Valley College and Orange Coast College.
