Folsom Lake Holds Off Sacramento City for 7-6 Win

In a tightly contested game on February 25, 2025, Folsom Lake held off Sacramento City in the final inning to secure a 7-6 victory. After a solid early lead, Folsom Lake had to withstand a late charge from Sacramento City in the eighth, but a two-run homer in the ninth from Dylan Green sealed the win for the Falcons.

Early Inning Struggles for Folsom Lake

Folsom Lake found themselves trailing early as Sacramento City took a 2-0 lead after the third inning. Jaxen Mentink's sacrifice fly in the second inning scored Tyson Mayberry, and Levi Sotomayor's groundout in the third brought in Jackson Blakley, putting the Panthers ahead 2-0.

Folsom Lake's Response

Folsom Lake answered in the fourth, as Logan Pruski singled home Dylan Green, and Connor Barth followed with an RBI single to score Pruski, tying the game at 2-2. The Falcons then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Asa Martinez that allowed Trajan Rogowski to score.

In the sixth, Folsom Lake added two more runs, first on a wild pitch that allowed Quincy Malbrough to score, followed by a single from Michael Ryan that plated Adam Reyes. This pushed the Falcons' lead to 5-2, with their offense looking in control.

Sacramento City Battles Back

Sacramento City showed resilience in the bottom of the eighth. Jackson Norton's walk and two consecutive singles from Mentink and Lucas Drake made it a 5-4 game. Then, Drake's fielder's choice, which scored two runs after an error by Folsom Lake's shortstop, gave Sacramento City a 6-5 lead.

Folsom Lake Closes Strong

But Folsom Lake wasn't done yet. In the top of the ninth, Dylan Green crushed a two-run home run to center field, scoring pinch-runner Justin Menesini and giving the Falcons a 7-6 lead. Sacramento City couldn't respond in the bottom of the ninth, and Folsom Lake held on for the win.
