VALLEY GLEN - Putting up huge numbers has never been the issue for the Marauder softball team.
So far AVC's best defense has been its offense.
That was the case in an 11-5 victory over host L.A. Valley College, Thursday afternoon, for its third consecutive victory.
During that span the Marauders have knocked around opposing pitchers by scoring 51 runs on 44 hits. AVC ranks near the top in nearly every offensive statistical category including fourth in home runs (17) and slugging percentage (.544) and sixth in batting average (.368).
Naelyse Garcia pitched a complete game for the Marauders allowing only two earned runs and eight hits. AVC's defense still committed three errors.
Erica Serfoss was 2-for-5 for the Marauders including a home run. Garcia also helped herself out at the plate with a home run and Maria Acosta joined the hit parade with a home run of her own. Over the last three games AVC bats have hit 11 home runs.
Dolly Stevens was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Serfoss (.500) and Stevens (.480) rank 11th and 20th respectively in batting average in the state.
