Compton, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Softball Team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday, March 4, crushing Compton College 15-2 in a blowout conference matchup. The Mounties' dominance was so overwhelming that the game ended after five innings due to the "run rule." With this victory, Mt. SAC improves to 10-7, while Compton falls to 6-5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mt. SAC started the scoring early on a groundout hit from Samantha Orozco in the top of the first that brought Sarai Raygoza home for a 1-0 lead. Their momentum carried into the second inning, where Kamyla Cerda drove in Morgan Kneubuhler with a single. The Mounties benefited on errors from the Tartars as both Cerda and Audrey White cross home plate on wild pitches and Raygoza scored on a throwing error from the catcher, extending their lead to 5-0.

Compton refused to go down without a fight - scoring a run in the bottom of the second off a hit from Evelyn Martin del Campo and adding an RBI single from Laila Davila in the third cutting, the deficit to 5-2.

But the Mounties responded in a big way with their most lucrative inning yet as they added six runs to the board in the bottom of the fourth. Kneubuhler's sacrifice fly brought in Raygoza, while Isabella Aspeitia and Cerda followed with RBI singles, scoring Orozco and Amanda Porterfield. White then delivered a clutch double, driving in Cerda and Aspeitia, before Mia Martin capped off the inning with a double of her own, scoring White and pushing the lead to 11-2.

Mt. SAC sealed the victory in the top of the fifth with Kayden Connaty's triple that scored Desiree Morales, an RBI single from Samantha Chavez that plated Connaty, and a two-RBI double from Peyton Clark, bringing in Isabella Guerrero and Chavez. With an insurmountable lead, the Mounties left no room for a Compton comeback.
