Despite out-hitting Glendale College 14-to-6, Citrus College had to battle for 10 innings to take home a 5-4 victory.

The Owls improve to 8-7 on the year and 3-2 in Western State Conference-South action, while the Vaqueros drop to 5-12-1 overall and 0-4 in conference.

Glendale took a quick 2-0 lead after taking advantage of some Owl mishaps in the top of the first, but Citrus answered back in the bottom of the first and took the lead in the third.

The Vaqueros made things interesting with a run in the top of the seventh and held Citrus off in the bottom half of the frame to force extra innings.

With the tie-breaker rule in play in the 10th, each team started with a runner on second. Glendale brought its runner home to take the lead, but Citrus had a chance to respond.

Leah Morales led the inning off with a base hit through the left side and made it to second as the Vaquero outfield made the throw home to keep Tatiana Figueroa at third. Jasani Zalvalza then loaded the bases with a walk before Patty Rodriguez sent one runner home to tie the game.

Alexis Cordero stepped up to the plate with bases loaded and one out and laced a hit deep to left center, allowing Morales to score the game-winning run and hand the Owls the walk-off victory.

Citrus turns right around to host Cuesta College on Tuesday for a doubleheader, with the first game set to begin at 1 p.m.
