The match kicked off under sunny skies with Modesto quickly seizing the advantage in the first inning. Katelyn Bridgeman (Tracy HS) doubled to left center, driving in Kasaia Faasisila (Tracy HS) for an unearned run. Moments later, Brooklyn Heffernan (Ceres HS) delivered a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Bridgeman to score. This strategic play put Modesto up with a 2-0 lead from the get-go.
In the third inning, Modesto solidified their lead. Sophia Coronado (Kimball HS) reached home plate when KK Zayehmoureh (Pitman HS) executed a squeeze bunt with a full count, extending Modesto's lead to 3-0. Despite Sacramento City's attempts to recover, their efforts were thwarted by Modesto's steadfast defense and superb pitching.
Heffernan proved to be the star on the mound for Modesto, pitching a complete game shutout. Across seven innings, Heffernan allowed just four hits, issuing two walks and striking out four batters. On the offensive side, Bridgeman and Zayehmoureh played pivotal roles, contributing essential RBIs that secured their victory.
Sacramento City's K. Almond, who endured the loss, pitched five innings, surrendering five hits and three runs—two of which were earned. Despite a commendable effort from Sacramento's A. Seguin, who recorded two hits, the team struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, leaving seven runners on base throughout the game.
The match witnessed an attendance of 93 spectators, who were treated to a display of strategic softball that lasted just over two hours. Modesto, who entered the game with a record of 9-7-1, improved to 10-7-1, while Sacramento City fell to 10-3.
