
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Joseph Talarico tossed a complete-game shutout on just 94 pitches as Santa Barbara City College bested Glendale College 2-0 on Tuesday.
Talarico allowed just seven hits while striking out three and not allowing any walks. When runners reached base, he generated ground balls that led to two crucial double plays.
Talarico (5-2) won his fourth consecutive start. Over that span, he surrendered just one earned run over 27 innings.
Santa Barbara scored its runs in the fifth inning. Sean Asperger was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Aidan Camberg grounded out to first base, bringing in the second run.
Benjamin Strutt went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two stolen bases.
Santa Barbara improves to 12-8 on the season and 7-2 in conference play. The Vaqueros host Coalinga College in a doubleheader at Pershing Park on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.
