SAN JACINTO - So what would Paige Johnson and Dolly Stevens do for an encore on Sunday against College of the Desert and host Mt. San College?
Well let's see.
How's eight more RBI and three home runs for Johnson in the Marauders 17-0 onslaught against Desert.
What about a two-run walk off home run by Stevens to help propel AVC to a 6-5 victory over the Eagles.
Just last week Johnson set a school record with two grand slams and 10 RBI, while Stevens set another school record with three home runs in a game.
On Sunday, Johnson tied Stevens' record as she was 4-for-5 for three home runs and eight RBI, which would be another school record had she not had the 10 against Oxnard.
"We kept the bats alive, coming off the Oxnard game. Mt. San Jacinto had a good pitcher and we were on her the whole time," Johnson said. "I think how we were down in the bottom of the seventh and we didn't give up shows how well our chemistry is going. It was a total team effort. All together we're seeing the ball really well and we're playing well right now."
Morgan Arndt pitched well as she picked up both wins on the mound for the Marauders (6-2). AVC's only two losses this season came against top ranked state opponents.
AVC trailed 5-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning against Mt. San Jacinto. Johnson led off the inning with a walk. Stevens then came up and promptly hit a line drive over the center field wall to earn the victory. Johnson lead the state with five home runs this season and Stevens is No. 2 with four.
