After a 9-8 win at home, the Marauders traveled to LA Valley, where they lost 11-10 on a walk-off after a rain delay. AVC then won Saturday's home game 8-1 to win the seriesIn game 1, Gavin Klennert went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI, Cody Turner went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, and Cody Rollings hit his first home run of the season while going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gilberto Beltran (1k, 2 innings) picked up the win on the mound after starter Ashton Fitzpatrick (1k) pitched 2 innings and struck out 3 in just over 3 innings of work. AVC totaled 13 hits and no errors.
Elias Frainier drove in 3 runs off 2 hits, and Gavin Klennert went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI in game two's loss. Jose Vazquez went 5-for-6 with a run batted in, while Cody Turner and Jacob Baxter recorded an RBI each. Aidan Morgan struck out 6 in 4 innings of relief on the mound. AVC managed 18 hits and committed 3 errors in the loss.
Cody Turner had a great day on the mound in the series tie-breaker, striking out 14 of 33 batters faced and going the distance with no walks. KB Bell also had a great day swinging as he went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI. Braydan Salinas (2), Gavin Klennert (1 H, 1 RBI), Cody Turner (1 H, 1 RBI), and Eddy Stone (1) all recorded RBI. Lucas Martinez (2) and Jacob Baxter (1) added hits. AVC's 8 runs came off 8 hits with 2 errors.
"The series was close all week. Two one-run games Tuesday and Thursday. Both teams fought hard. Conference play has a different feel, and I think both teams were feeding off that. Certainly, the highlight of the week was the Saturday performance by Turner. That's the best I've seen him throw," said head coach Bryan Moses
The Marauders are 15-4 (2-1 in conference) and will start game 1 of their conference series against LA Mission on the road before returning home to face them on March 13 at 2:00 pm.
