TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College trounced Rio Hondo 16-1 to complete a three-game South Coast Conference sweep over Rio Hondo on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors had 12 different players record a hit en route to 22 total hits including two home runs, three doubles and two triples. Eight different players recorded an RBI as the Warriors outscored the Roadrunners 33-3 in the three-game set including a 30-2 edge in the last two games of the series.

Dylan Mares had a career day for the Warriors as he went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs. He also belted his second home run of the series and he is now hitting .412 on the season including a 7-for-13 stretch since being inserted into the starting lineup as the designated hitter on March 1 against East Los Angeles.

In addition to Mares, Lucas Bonham and Matt Hammond each recorded a three-hit game on Saturday with Hammond blasting his third home run of the season, scoring four times on the afternoon.

On the mound, Luke Steward cruised to his fourth win of the season. He went six innings and scattered three hits while striking out four. He needed just 65 pitches to get through six frames and he retired 15 of the final 16 batters he faced.

With the win, the Warriors improved their record to 5-4 in SCC play, the first time this season they have been over .500 in conference action. They will face last-place L.A. Harbor next week in a three-game set beginning Tuesday in Wilmington.
