Baseball Named South Coast Conference Co-Champions

The No. 16 Long Beach City College baseball team finalized the three-game sweep against Compton College with a 10-4 victory on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings share the conference title with Mt. SAC, both with 19-5 records. This is the sixth conference championship within the last seven seasons for the Vikings.

Moises Guzman (3-0) earned the win on the mound with only allowing the Tartars to one hit in the final four innings, while striking out six.

The Tartars lead the Vikings through the first five innings. Finally, in the sixth inning, Sanders scored off an ground out from Raul Garcia to creep in on the Tartars to only be down by one. Ryan Guerrero flew one out for a sac fly in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score at fours.

In the eighth inning, Raul Garcia blasted an RBI double to lead by one, then the Vikings brought the momentum with an RBI single from Kamau Neighbors, hit by pitch RBI from Tyler Bermundo, 2 RBI sac fly from Guerero, and finally an RBI single from Alex Seguine to finalize the 10-4 Vikings win.
