Diablo Valley College struggled against a strong San Joaquin Delta squad, falling 18-2 on the road. The Vikings managed to tally seven hits but couldn't string together enough offense to keep pace with the Mustangs.
Diablo Valley got on the board in the fifth inning when Lorenzo Solares drove in Zac Goldenberg with an RBI single. The Vikings added another run in the ninth when Adam Harper grounded out to short, allowing Haruki Toyoda to score. Goldenberg provided a highlight with a double, while Solares and Harper recorded the team's only RBIs.
On the mound, Anthony Pisciotto battled through 4.2 innings, giving up eight earned runs while striking out three. Guolin Wu, Jack Dress, Jack Downing, and Noah Klube combined for relief efforts but couldn't slow Delta's offensive surge.
DVC 4, Delta 3
Diablo Valley College secured an exciting 4-3 walk-off victory over San Joaquin Delta at Viking Field, thanks to Marcus McClenon's game-winning sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
The Vikings jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Zac Goldenberg drove in two runs with a clutch single. After Delta tied the game in the third, Diablo Valley reclaimed the lead in the seventh when Angus Olaes singled down the left-field line to bring home Elijah Scott. Delta evened the score once more in the top of the ninth, but Nicholas Meadows led off the bottom half with a single and came around to score on McClenon's sacrifice fly to seal the victory.
On the mound, Calvin Johnson delivered a complete-game gem, allowing just five hits and two earned runs while striking out six to earn his first win of the season. Olaes led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Goldenberg and McClenon added crucial RBIs to lift the Vikings to victory.
With this win, Diablo Valley continued to showcase its ability to battle in close games, earning a hard-fought victory in front of the home crowd.
DVC 3, Delta 0
Diablo Valley College bounced back in a big way, securing a dominant 3-0 shutout victory over San Joaquin Delta. Hudson Pergamit delivered a masterful performance on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just four hits and one walk, striking out three. His stellar outing kept the Mustangs off balance all night.
The Vikings got on the board in the fourth when James Foley drove in Joey Rusca with an RBI single. In the fifth, Marcus McClenon added a sacrifice groundout, scoring Zac Ragland to extend the lead to 2-0. Elijah Scott capped off the scoring in the sixth with an RBI single, once again bringing in Rusca.
Diablo Valley's defense was solid behind Pergamit, with Joey Rusca, Elijah Scott, and Nicholas Meadows turning a key double play to keep the Mustangs in check. The Vikings' seven-hit effort and clean fielding proved crucial in securing this much-needed win.
