Whittier, Calif. – With the season hitting its back half, the Mt. SAC Baseball Team continues to showcase its dominance, securing a commanding 10-3 win over Rio Hondo on Tuesday, March 11. The victory extends the Mounties' impressive record to 18-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference play, while the Roadrunners drop to 4-18 overall and 2-8 in conference action. Additionally, Mt. SAC climbed two spots in the latest rankings, now sitting at No. 4 in the state.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Bryan Bradshaw opened the scoring for Mt. SAC when he launched a two-run homer in the top of the third to get the Mounties on the board. Tyler Stull and Cole Nachreiner followed with RBI singles, driving in Ty Thomas and Miguel Perez, while a catching error by Rio Hondo allowed Stull to score, giving Mt. SAC a 5-0 lead.

Bradshaw stayed hot in the fourth, blasting his second home run of the game to extend the lead to six.

The Mounties added four more runs in the seventh inning. Singles from Diego Ortiz and Stull, combined with an error by Rio Hondo's shortstop, loaded the bases. Nachreiner's walk brought in Ortiz, followed by Stull scoring on a wild pitch. Terrell Jackson Jr. then singled to drive in Perez, and Noah Rodriguez grounded into a double play, allowing Nachreiner to cross the plate, pushing Mt. SAC's total to 10 runs.

Despite trailing, Rio Hondo fought back late. Doubles from David Castillo and Owen Zingel drove in Josh Zarate and Castillo in the seventh. They tacked on one more in the ninth when Castillo walked, scoring Wes Pendleton, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Mounties' dominance.

Izeah Muniz delivered another stellar performance, pitching eight innings against 30 batters, allowing just five hits and two earned runs while striking out seven to secure the win.
