PANTHERS PLAY STRONG - GET ANOTHER HOME WIN
The Panthers took on LA Mission this afternoon, defeating the Eagles 6-2 in 7-innings. Isabella Anzueto went six on the mound for her 3rd win of the season. "Izzy (Anzueto) was in complete command on the mound and added a pair of doubles at the plate. She was the story of the game. She's worked hard and been patient for her opportunities. It's great to see her rise to the occasion," commented Head Coach Jerry Tivey.
"Our #1 and #6 hitters (Alyah Rueff & Clarissa Banuelos) really did what they were supposed to do, collecting a combined 5 hits and 5 stolen bases. They really provide that spark for us." In total, the Panthers had ten hits on the day including a 3rd inning homer by Violet Salazar (her 4th of the season - ranked #2 in the conference for HRs).
"The team played good solid short ball with a series of single runs. Violet opened it up for us with the 2-run homer but the rest was all off single runs," said Tivey. "We're playing like a playoff bound team," he told the team after the game. The Panthers are currently conference undefeated and head to Desert tomorrow to resume IEAC play.
