Renegades edged in Southern California losses

OXNARD – Sophomore Mahek Dhillon posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Ohlone College in a tough 53-51 loss at Oxnard College on Saturday.

The non-conference game closed out a two-game Southern California trip for the Renegades. On Friday, Ohlone suffered another slim defeat, falling 56-52 at Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar.

Dhillon totaled 28 points over both contests while Tia Stevenson was also solid with a combined 30 points.

Dhillon and Stevenson sparked the Renegades, both coming off the bench to help fuel a late fourth-quarter rally. A pair of free throws by Dhillon and a layup from Stevenson got Ohlone within a point at 49-48 with 42 seconds left in the contest.

But Oxnard was able to make 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.

Stevenson totaled 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals while Dhillon had 14 points, 4 boards, and 3 steals to lead Ohlone in Friday's loss.

Thadar Set had a big game defensively with 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. She added 9 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

The two losses dropped Ohlone to 3-8 overall this season. The Renegades return to action on Dec. 18 when they host Foothill College at 5 p.m.
