Three-Run Sixth Inning Propels No. 2 Softball over No. 10 Folsom Lake

Oroville, Calif. - A three-run inning sixth inning propelled the second-seeded Butte softball team to a 5-2 win over 10th-seeded Folsom Lake on Friday afternoon to open the Super Regional series.

All-American and Golden Valley Conference Player of the Year freshman Alexis Detwiler added a pair of insurance runs on a two-out two-RBI single to tally a pair of insurance runs after a RBI-single by freshman Grace Stearns.

Freshman Maggie Smith led the Roadrunner battery with a 2-for-2 outing with a pair of RBI with Stearns and Detwiler also tallying multi-hit performances.

In the circle, All-American and Golden Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year freshman Savannah Wahl (21-1) threw the complete game, scattering five hits and fanning five.

Butte (42-1) hosts Folsom Lake on Saturday, May 14 at 12 p.m. to round out the best-of-three series. If necessary, game three will follow at approximately at 2 p.m.
