acramento City Rallies Late to Defeat Santa Rosa, 7-1

Sacramento City erupted for seven runs in the final two innings to secure a 7-1 victory over Santa Rosa on March 1, 2025. The win evened the series after Santa Rosa's shutout victory in the earlier game.

Late-Inning Surge Powers Panthers

After being held scoreless through the first five innings, Sacramento City broke through in the sixth with five runs, capitalizing on timely hits and a costly Santa Rosa error. A throwing miscue allowed Chloe Kimbrell and Isabela Rogel to score, giving the Panthers their first lead at 2-1. From there, Kayla Garber and Larissa Banks delivered RBI hits, extending the advantage to 5-1.

Sacramento City tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh, with Jenna Potter and Ava Seguin bringing in runs on productive outs.

Almond Shines in Complete-Game Effort

Sacramento City pitcher Korrie Almond (6-3) was stellar in the circle, tossing a complete-game victory. She scattered seven hits while allowing just one run, striking out four and walking one. Almond worked efficiently, limiting Santa Rosa's offensive opportunities and keeping them off the scoreboard after the second inning.

Santa Rosa's Early Lead Fizzles

Santa Rosa got on the board first in the second inning when Kali Garcia delivered an RBI single, scoring Niueni Elisara for a 1-0 lead. However, the Bear Cubs failed to build on their early momentum and were shut down for the remainder of the game.

Pitcher Mya Gonzalez (2-5) took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits over five innings. Relievers Mia Avila and Mira Olvera struggled to stop Sacramento City's late offensive push, giving up four runs in the final two frames.
