LA Mission Powers Past Orange Coast with Offensive Explosion, Wins 18-8

Sylmar, CA – The LA Mission College baseball team put on an offensive showcase on Wednesday, overwhelming Orange Coast College with an 18-8 victory at home. A huge third inning and a dominant performance at the plate led the Eagles to their third win of the season.

Orange Coast struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Keith Aguilar. However, LA Mission quickly responded with two runs in the bottom half, courtesy of an RBI single by Hudson Story and a run-scoring hit from Dominic Ramirez to take a 2-1 lead.

Orange Coast briefly regained the lead in the second inning, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to plate two runs and go up 3-2. But that lead was short-lived, as LA Mission answered back with a three-run frame. Andrew "Drew" Seidel delivered a clutch two-run double, and Barry Menjivar added a sacrifice fly, pushing the Eagles ahead 5-3.

The defining moment of the game came in the third inning when LA Mission erupted for seven runs, capitalizing on Orange Coast's fielding errors and wild pitches. Seidel, Menjivar, and Story all contributed RBIs, while aggressive baserunning and timely hitting extended the lead to 12-3.

Despite a solo sacrifice fly from Aguilar in the fifth inning for Orange Coast, the Eagles kept their momentum, tacking on three more runs in the sixth. Victor Carrera ripped a two-run single, followed by another RBI double from Seidel, extending the lead to 15-4.

LA Mission plated three additional runs in the seventh thanks to aggressive baserunning and a groundout RBI from Jessie Pineda, making it an overwhelming 18-4 advantage. Orange Coast added late runs in the eighth on a three-run home run from Mikey Hanano, followed by a solo shot from Devin Rodgers in the ninth, but it was far too late to mount a comeback.

On the mound, Michael Figueroa (1-1) delivered a solid performance, pitching seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out two. Conner Cafferty and Alan Zurita Garcia finished off the final two innings, with Zurita Garcia closing the door despite giving up a late home run.

The offense was led by Drew Seidel, who went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and two stolen bases, while Hudson Story drove in three runs on two hits, and Carrera added a two-hit, three-RBI performance.

With this dominant victory, LA Mission improves to 3-7 on the season and will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup.
