Mt. SAC Men’s Water Polo Crushes Chaffey College 23-5

Walnut – On Wednesday, October 9, the Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team outplayed Chaffey College, swiftly taking control of the match with a 23-5 victory. The Mounties took a 9-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and maintained relentless pressure throughout the game, preventing the Panthers from making a comeback.

Trevor Davis led the scoring with three goals, while Matthew Leeworthy, Nicolas Lara, Ryan Jackson, and Jack Painton each added two goals. To further showcase their dominance and depth, twelve additional athletes contributed to the scoreboard, including Nicolas Flores, Benjamin Trull, Michael McMillan, Ryan Ketring, Gabriel Anton Dee, Alejandro Ceja, Lucas Heath, Andres Equihua Sanchez, Matthew Munoz, Parker Montgomery, Donovan Thomas, and Zane Zander. The Mounties achieved an impressive shooting percentage of 67.6%, making 23 goals on 34 attempts, while the Panthers struggled with a 23.8% shooting rate, scoring five goals on 21 attempts.

Defensively, goalkeepers Henry De Luna, Elijah Swaim, Zayd Karim, and Tyler Johnson combined for 11 saves, effectively thwarting any attempts by Chaffey College to close the gap.

This victory marks the third consecutive win for the Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team, bringing their overall record to 12-8 and maintaining an undefeated 2-0 conference standing. Chaffey College now sits at 3-10 overall and 0-4 in conference.

Next, the No. 10 ranked Mounties will travel north to Saratoga to compete in the Bruce Watson Invitational hosted by West Valley College. They will face tough opponents, including No. 1 ranked West Valley, No. 7 ranked American River, as well as Diablo Valley and Las Positas.
