SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Vaqueros' beach volleyball season got off to an eventful start at East Beach on Friday, as Santa Barbara won two matches against Fresno City College and four against Sierra College.
The duo of Tana Long and Madelynn Papia started the day by winning a point over Fresno in three sets. They also collected another point against Sierra in two sets.
Neveah Tillett and Lina Husek were also successful in both of their matchups, convincingly securing two points in straight-set wins.
Charlotte Wilson and Madison Genasci rallied to secure a point against Sierra in two sets, 22-20 and 21-17. Julia White and Brielle Smith just missed out on a point in three sets against Fresno but rebounded to win their matchup against Sierra in two sets.
Kaylin Cooney and Sage Thorne-Thomsen battled in their matches but were unable to secure a point for the Vaqueros.
Santa Barbara travels to Long Beach for its next matchup on Friday, Feb. 7.
