A+ EFFORT DEFEATS ANTELOPE VALLEY

The Hornet men's volleyball team welcomed Antelope Valley College to the Nest on Wednesday night and took out the Marauders 3-1.

Riding a two-game win streak, Fullerton is now 8-9 overall and 5-4 in conference-play, while AVC bumps down to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in the conference standings.

FC pulled off a close first set with Curtis Lee closing the door on the Marauders to finish it 25-21. Despite a 15-12 lead and a valiant effort, the Hornets dropped the second set 25-22, but then came out firing to open the third set with an 18-10 lead to eventually win it 25-15. In the fourth and final set, Fullerton remained hot out of the gate with a 17-9 lead. Shon Schugk made three plays in a row (a block with 2 kills) to help the Hornets win the match 25-15.

Shon Schugk had another strong game leading the Hornets in kills with 13. He also added 4 digs, a block assist, and an ace. Evan Shank dished out 34 assists and had 12 digs with a block assist. Curtis Lee knocked down 10 kills, while Noah Spelman had 8 along with 6 digs and 2 block assists. Keegan Martyn scooped up 18 digs and had 2 assists. Samuel Chavez and Drew Craig both chipped in with 4 kills each.

Up Next: The Hornets (8-9 overall, 5-4 conference) will play another conference match at home this Friday, March 28th when Santa Barbara City College comes to town.
