TIVEY HITS 700TH WIN WITH A 13-3 VICTORY AT VVC
The Panthers traveled to Victor Valley College on Wednesday to take on the Rams in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game and emerged with a 13-3 six-inning mercy-rule win. With the victory, defending champion Chaffey improves to 12-10 on the season and 4-2 in conference.
Sophomore captain and third baseman Marisa Marquez led the way as she went 3-4 at the plate with a single, double and triple, knocking in one run and scoring three times. Marisa ranks #19 in the state in batting average, hitting .462 on the year.
Freshman shortstop Coie Carter picked up two hits, two stolen bases and scored a pair of runs. Freshman first baseman Hailey Marquez added to her team-leading RBI total by pushing two more across the plate. Hailey is 7th in the state with 27 RBI on the season.
Sophomore centerfielder Alyah Rueff knocked in three runs and stole a base, her 16th of the season, which is the 7th highest total in the state this year.
The win was the 700th career coaching victory for Jerry Tivey (high school and college combined).
