Ramirez Throws Second No-Hitter of Season as Warriors Beat Compton

TORRANCE, Calif. --- For the second time this season, sophomore pitcher Lexi Ramirez recorded a five-inning no-hitter as El Camino College blanked Compton, 9-0, in a South Coast Conference game Thursday at the ECC Softball Field.
Ramirez, who recorded the first no hitter by a Warriors pitcher since 1990 back on Jan. 30 against L.A. Mission, faced the minimum through five innings on a rainy Thursday afternoon. She struck out three and flirted with a perfect game. The only Tartars runner to reach on the day came by way of a throwing error by Ramirez herself in the fourth inning with one out, but Ramirez got Destiny Munguia to line into an inning-ending double play to end the frame.
With the win, Ramirez improved to 10-2 in the circle with nine complete games and lowered her ERA to 1.12 on the season.
Offensively, Savanna Kastigar and Emma Garcia led the way as they each went 2-for-3 with three RBIs apiece. Cheyenne Navarro was 1-for-2 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored while Lilly Lewis was 1-for-1 with a two-run double and a walk.
The Warriors opened the scoring in the first inning on a two-run triple by Navarro. After Lilly Lewis walked, the Warriors' second baseman tried to steal second and got caught in a rundown. While the Tartars tried to get Lewis out, Navarro bolted for home brought in the run safely as Lewis managed to get back to first base.
The Warriors then scored four times in the second inning and added four more in the third to put the game away. The team will return to action on Friday afternoon when East Los Angeles pays a visit to the ECC Softball Field for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
