Renegades edge San Mateo 7-6 to improve to 17-2

FREMONT – Ohlone College continued its impressive start to the 2025 season with a narrow 7-6 victory over visiting College on San Mateo on Thursday. With the win, the Renegades moved to 17-2 overall.

Ohlone built a 6-2 lead after six innings before San Mateo put up four runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie it. But Payton Dupree came through with an RBI-single in the in the bottom of the seventh that scored Teagan Reilley for what proved to be the game-winning run.

Brendan Comeford went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Renegades at the plate. Zach Dawson (2 for 5) and Carson Burnett (1 for 3) also drove in a pair of runs each.

Matthew Foley earned a no decision despite a solid start on the mound. He went six innings, scattering six hits while allowing just two runs. Diego Menjivar picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief while Dillon Putramandala closed out the contest in the ninth for the save.

Ohlone returns to action on Saturday (Mar. 8) with a non-conference game at Chabot College. On March 11, the Renegades begin Coast Conference South Division play with a three-game series against Gavilan College.
