Harris Deals No-Hit Gem as Vikings Shut Out LA Harbor, 3-0
The Vikings continued their impressive season with a 3-0 victory over LA Harbor on Thursday afternoon.
The state-ranked No. 9 Long Beach City College softball team continued their impressive season with a 3-0 victory over LA Harbor on Thursday afternoon in a South Coast Conference matchup. This win elevates the Vikings' overall record to 12-2, including a 6-1 mark in conference play.
The Vikings' pitching staff delivered an outstanding performance. Starting pitcher Hailey Harris (W, 6-1) dominated over six innings, allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out seven without issuing a walk. Reliever Adalise Valenzuela maintained the shutout in the seventh inning, conceding just one hit and securing the victory.
Offensively, Long Beach capitalized on early opportunities. In the first inning, catcher Zara Mineo scored the opening run when Harris reached first base on a pitcher's error. The Vikings extended their lead in the fifth inning as first baseman Anaya Togia tripled, driving in pinch hitter Lela Asi. The final run came in the sixth inning when right fielder May Ramirez smashed an RBI single, allowing designated player Mikaela Pacheco to score.
The Vikings will be back in action on Friday, February 28 at El Camino College at 1 p.m.
