Bakersfield Completes Sweep Over Canyons with Late-Game Comeback

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College baseball team's offense came alive in a 9-4 victory over the visiting College of the Canyons Cougars, powered by a strong performance at the plate and solid pitching. The Renegades jumped ahead early with three runs in the first, highlighted by a three-RBI homer from Liam O'Reilly. They continued to tack on runs throughout the game, including a three-run seventh inning that sealed the win.

Ryan Morales earned the victory, striking out seven over six innings while allowing three runs. Canyons managed 12 hits but struggled to capitalize, leaving 13 runners on base. Bakersfield's balanced attack and timely hitting proved to be the difference as they secured the home win.

BC defeated Canyons on Saturday, March 29th to secure a series win by defeating COC on Thursday, 8-6.

Bakersfield capped off a dominant series with a thrilling 7-6 victory over Canyons, completing the sweep in dramatic fashion. Trailing 6-2 heading into the seventh, the Renegades rallied with a three-run inning before sealing the win in the bottom of the ninth.

Dadjael Salcedo played the hero, blasting a go-ahead solo home run in the final frame, capping off a three-RBI night. Luke Mann also contributed, going 3-for-4 with an RBI triple. Liam O'Reilly and Trenton Hernandez each added key RBIs to fuel the comeback.

On the mound, Frank Fabian was outstanding in relief, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three to earn the win. Aiden English started the game, battling through four innings despite a tough third inning in which Canyons put up four runs. 

With the sweep, the Renegades gain momentum to improve to 13-12 on the season (5-4 WSC) as they head into the next conference matchup. Up next, Renegades will travel to LA Mission on Tuesday to start another 3-day series.
