Bakersfield Gets a Big Win over Santa Barbara

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College Renegades captured a hard-fought victory over the Santa Barbara Vaqueros in a four-set thriller on Saturday, rebounding after a close first-set loss to win 23-25, 25-13, 25-20, and 25-14. This comeback win, a previously scheduled game that was postponed due to personal matters, showcased BC's resilience and collective team effort, moving them to a stronger standing late in the season.

Stevie Yursik led the offensive charge with an impressive 21 kills, hitting .321 while also adding 19 digs, a block solo, and an ace. Alexandra Watts was equally effective, tallying 14 kills with two block assists, while Kamryn Briggs made her presence known with 10 kills, 24 digs, and four aces. Chloe Comstock directed the offense with 25 assists and added seven digs and an ace.

The Renegades' defensive efforts were rock solid, racking up 95 digs, anchored by libero Chloe Lopez with 24 digs. Taylor Drake also contributed on defense with 10 digs while chipping in 20 assists. Bakersfield's well-rounded performance saw them secure the last three sets with authority, demonstrating both skill and teamwork to close out a strong home win.

With the win, BC is now 15-9 on the season with one last conference match on Wednesday at Citrus College. The Renegades will play a cross-over match with a team from the Western State Conference South before finding out their post-season standings. Check back at gogades.com for more information.
