COD Women’s Volleyball has scare, then sweeps Wolverines, 3-0

COD (8-8; 5-1) moved back to .500 on the season, but had to fight their way back after an easy first set, the visitors gave everything the Roadrunners could handle in sets 2 and 3, but in the end, Desert grabbed its 15th straight win over the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (1-10; 0-5), 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-20).

College of the Desert is 32-28 all-time against the Wolverines, but the Roadrunners have not lost to San Bernardino Valley since October 9, 2013. Out of the last 15 match winning streak, Desert has a very positive 43-4 set record over the Wolverines.

Sophomore libero Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) led the team with 17 digs and 3 service aces and freshman setter Kianna Diaz (Palm Desert H.S.) led the team with 32 set assists and grabbing 9 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Kaila Sandy (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 14 kills, collecting a service ace and 14 digs and freshman outside hitter Yesenia Ramirez (Indio Shadow Hills) had 3 kills and 3 digs.

Freshman opposite Lila Cowdell (Herriman, UT) had 7 digs, 5 kills and a service ace, freshman middle blocker Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) had 7 kills and freshman middle blocker Caitlin Bilhartz (Bowling Green, MO) had 4 kills.

The Roadrunners are home for their final regular season home game on November 3rd versus the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles. Since 1984, Desert has an 40-20 all-time record versus the Eagles, with a 21-9 record in the Coachella Valley. Only in the past eight seasons has the rivalry really heated up, with the Eagles holding an 8-3 lead in all matches since 2013.
