BEAVERS DOWN VIKINGS 4-1, CLINCH SERIES

American River College clinched their first BIG 8 Conference series win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Diablo Valley College on Thursday.  Freshman Eli Campbell (Cordova) got his first start of the season on the mound and made the most of it, going 6 innings, scattering 6 hits and striking out 6 while allowing just one run.  It is the lowest number of runs the Beavers have allowed in a game this season.  Freshman RHP Kaden Clive (Delta) came on in relief and threw three shutout innings, allowing just one walk and no hits to pick up his 3rd win of the season.  The game was played in just 2 hours and 15 minutes as neither team mounted much offense until the Beavers scored to take a 2-1 lead in the 7th on a two out single to left by DH Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) that scored 2B Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista) all the way from first who was running on the pitch.  The Beavers increased their lead in the top of the 9th with two on and nobody out SS Ramon Esparza (Roseville) laced a sharp single to center.  C Grant Fletcher (Yuba City) followed with a chopper between third and short that was misplayed allowing CF Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) to come up and double off of the right center fence to score both runs giving the Beavers some extra cushion.

ARC and DVC will conclude their three game series on Friday at 2:00 pm at Beaver Field.
