
TAFT, CA – Taft College Baseball played on Tuesday, March 4, against Fresno City College to kick off a three-game series for the week.
Chase Pillips started on the mound for the Taft Cougars as Fresno took the lead early, scoring 3 runs in the first. Taft chipped away slowly climbing back, scoring in the 2nd inning from an RBI single from Isaac Pinedo, and in the 3rd inning when Yadriel Reyes doubled and advanced to third off a wild pitch. Ty Moore then capitalized hitting a sac fly scoring a run making it a 3-2 score.
Phillips dug in and put up 4 consecutive 0's. He would go 6 innings with only 3 earned runs giving the Cougars a chance to win. It was a 4-3 game entering the 8th inning and the Rams scored 5 unearned runs in the 8th inning.
Fresno would win the game with the final score being 9-3. Aiden Otano, Gaku Yamamoto and Yadriel Reyes all had multiple hit games.
TC will now head to Fresno for game 2 on Thursday, March 6.
