
Palomar Takes Down San Diego City 5-3 on the Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (3/15/2025) -- The No. 15-ranked Palomar College baseball team secured another key conference victory, defeating San Diego City College 5-3 on the road Saturday afternoon. The Comets used early offense and strong bullpen work to improve to 15-7 overall and 7-1 in PCAC play.
Comets Strike Early
After San Diego City jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning, Palomar quickly responded with two runs in the second. Braedon Peterson-Cheek delivered a clutch two-run triple, tying the game at 2-2.
The Comets took the lead for good in the fourth inning, as Jacob Loving drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Peterson-Cheek added another RBI to make it 4-3. An insurance run in the eighth inning extended the lead, and Palomar's pitching took care of the rest.
Bullpen Locks It Down
- Tait Karlson (W, 1-1) was outstanding in relief, tossing 3.2 shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out three.
- Lucas Smith (S, 2) picked up the save, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up only two hits.
- Ian Mowad started and worked through two innings, surrendering three runs on three hits before the bullpen took over.
