
Butte Rolls Past American River with a 12-3 Victory
The Butte College Roadrunners traveled to Sacramento for a non-conference matchup against the American River Beavers and delivered an impressive 12-3 win behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching.
Early Offensive Surge Sets the Tone
Butte wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, as Aidan Santos led off with a double and Brent Gallegos worked a walk. With two runners on, Trent Van Nuys delivered a two-run double, giving the Roadrunners an early 2-0 lead.
The offense continued in the second inning, starting with a Drew Carrington single and an Alonso Rivera sacrifice bunt. Grant Sonke followed with an RBI double, bringing home Carrington. Gallegos then doubled in Sonke, and Van Nuys capped off the inning with another RBI double, extending Butte's lead to 5-0.
The third inning saw Jack Howsley reach on a walk and steal second base, setting the stage for three consecutive walks by Luke Zuromski, Carrington, and Rivera. Santos then executed a sacrifice bunt, adding another run to Butte's total.
In the fifth inning, Zuromski led off with a single, followed by a Carrington single and a Rivera walk. Sonke drove in another run with an RBI single, and Gallegos added to the scoring with a sacrifice fly, pushing the lead even further.
The Roadrunners tacked on two final runs in the eighth inning, with Van Nuys singling and scoring on a Howsley RBI single, followed by Carrington driving in Howsley for Butte's 12th run of the game.
Pitching Staff Shuts Down Beavers
Butte utilized a staffed pitching approach, starting with Will Garduno, who threw three solid innings. The Roadrunner bullpen combined to allow just three runs while striking out eight batters, keeping the Beavers' offense in check.

With the victory, Butte improves to 15-9 overall and now turns its attention back to conference play. The Roadrunners are set to begin a three-game series against Shasta College, with the first game scheduled for Friday in Redding. However, rain could impact the schedule, and there is a possibility of moving the game up a day.
