Bulldogs Sweep Moorpark in Three Game Series

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team picked up a trio of conference victories after sweeping Moorpark College in a three-game series last week, which came to a close on Saturday afternoon at John Osborne Field. The Bulldogs move to 10-9 after the series (4-2 WSC) while Moorpark falls to 3-14 overall (1-8 WSC). 

Josue Garcia led the way for Hancock with an 8-for-15 (.571) showing at the plate, which included one double and one RBI. Owen Bolich drove in a team-best of five runs throughout the series while going 6-for-14 in the box and recording one homer. 

The Bulldogs are set to resume conference play this week with another three-game series set to take place against Cuesta College. AHC will travel to San Luis Obispo on Tuesday (Mar 11) and Saturday (Mar 15) with a home game schedule in the middle on Thursday (Mar 13). 

GAME ONE: AHC 12, MC 0 | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs used an explosive offense and stellar pitching to cruise to a decisive 12-0 win over the Raiders in game one at home. The home squad wasted no time, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. They added three more runs in both the third and fourth innings to break the game open, finishing with a commanding 16 hits on the day.

Braden Oliver led the way at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Bolich added to the effort with a 3-for-4 showing, which included his second home run of the season, while driving in three runs and scoring as many. Andrew Sandoval also drove in a pair of runners after notching two doubles on the day.

Austin Moccardini collected the win on the rubber with six strikeouts and no hits through four innings of work. 

GAME TWO: AHC 6, MC 0 | BOX SCORE

Hancock delivered a commanding performance both on the mound and at the plate in a 6-0 shutout win over the hosting Raiders at "The Park" on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher Jaiden Turner stole the show for the Bulldogs, tossing a complete-game shutout over nine innings. The Montana native was nearly untouchable, allowing just six hits, walking only one batter, and striking out 11. He induced a mix of groundouts and flyouts, keeping Moorpark hitters off balance all game long. With this victory, Turner improves to 3-1 on the season and lowers his WHIP to a stingy 0.78.

The Bulldogs' offense struck early and often, scoring in six different innings. They opened with two runs in the first and added insurance runs in the third, fourth, eighth, and ninth innings. The balanced attack produced 12 hits, including six doubles. J. Garcia had a stellar day, going 3-for-5 with a double and scoring three runs to lead the offense. Sandoval was a spark plug from the lower part of the lineup, contributing two doubles, an RBI, and a walk on a perfect day at the plate (2-for-2). Isaac Imamura also chipped in with two hits, a double, and an RBI, helping to extend innings and apply pressure on Moorpark's defense.

GAME THREE: AHC 8, MC 2 | BOX SCORE

AHC used a late offensive surge to break open a tight game and claim an 8-2 win over Moorpark in the final game of the series. Despite being held scoreless for the first six innings, the Bulldogs erupted for three runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to secure the victory.

Shaine Heriford led the scoring spurt with four RBIs while registering his first home run of the year. Colin Johnston added to the effort by driving in two key RBIs after going 2-for-4 and recording a sacrifice bunt.

Starting pitcher Trevor Jure was lights out, throwing seven shutout innings, scattering just two hits while striking out eight and walking one en route to his first win of the season. Raffael Chiarella entered as a reliever for the final inning of play.
