Baseball Drops Game 1 to Canyons

Baseball traveled to College of the Canyons for game one of their three game series with the Cougars, falling 10-5.

Citrus College goes to 8-11 overall on the season and 3-1 in conference games, while College of the Canyons moves to 5-13 overall and 1-3 in conference.

The Owls scored in the top of the first inning off a Jordan Quintero RBI double to drive in Nathan Hellein, to go up 1-0. The Cougars responded by put up nine runs combined in the first and second innings to take a 9-1 lead.

Jordan Quintero crushed his first home run of the season, a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 9-4. In the top of the sixth inning, Quintero knocked in his fifth RBI of the game with a single to left field that scored Nathan Hellein as the Owls trailed 9-5.

Canyons added one more run in bottom of the eighth inning to secure the 10-5 win.

Citrus and Canyons will meet again tomorrow, March 13th for game two at Citrus College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
