Softball splits their double-headers with Glendale and Riverside to close out their opening week

Playing their second double-header of the week at Glendale, the Raiders took game 1 10-2 and lost game 2 on a walk-off win by the hosts, 7-6.

In game 1 the Raiders rapped out 10 hits which included three triples. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 3rd, Mia Gregory reached base on E5 and stole second. Next Raiders batter Taytem Reyes singled scored Ashlyn Olson. Mia Gregory scored when Reyes try to take second, 2-1 Raiders. The Raider's hitting came alive in top of the 4th. Kylie Kolkowski triple scored Leah Cowans, Maddy Mekari's triple scores Kolkowski, Ashlyn Olson's RBI single scores Mekari, Danielle Bishop's triple scores Olson. Taytem Reyes' RBI single scores Bishop. Mia Gregory singled and stole second and scored when Mallory Akhlaghi reached base on E3 and Gregory went home. 8-1 Raiders. The Raiders got two more in the top of the 6th inning. 10-2, Raiders. Amanda Smith got the win.

G2 got off to a good start for the Raiders as they took a 5-0 lead into the 3rd. However in the bottom of the 3rd, Glendale put a 4 spot on the Raiders. The Raider bats went silent as the hosts went up 6-5 in the 6th. In the top of the 7th, Isabella Velasquez singled to right and scored on Alexa Paradis' double to center. 6-6 top 7th. Glendale walked it off on a E5. Amanda Smith started but Jordyn Reid took the loss.

Coming home to play their 3rd double-header of the week, hosting Riverside, the Raiders took game 1, 12-7 but lost game 2, 14-3.

In game 1, the Raiders trailed the Tigers 5-1 after 4 innings. In the bottom of the 5th and 6th, the Raiders erupted for 6 and 5 runs respectively. Isabella Velsquez went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs, Kylie Kolkowski went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Danielle Bishop went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Amanda Smith got the win.

In game 2, the Raiders trailed 3-2 after 1 inning and added another run in the bottom of the 2nd. After that the Raiders were hitting the ball but right at defenders. They left 7 runners on base over the last 5 innings. When the dust settled, Riverside had the win 14-3. 

The Raiders are scheduled to play at Canyons, Tuesday 2/20 but inclement weather will more than likely cause a schedule change.
