SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team split a doubleheader showing against Coalinga College during the 2025 home opener on Thursday afternoon. Game one was delayed by nearly an hour due to a scheduling issue with officials, which forced game two to end early due to darkness.
The Bulldogs improve to 1-4 on the season while Coalinga moves to an even 4-4 record. Up next will be another non-conference home showing on Saturday, March 1st, against Chaffey College at 1:30 PM.
GAME ONE: COALINGA 12, AHC 2 | BOX SCORE
Coalinga jumped out to an early lead after scoring three runs in the opening frame, but the Bulldogs responded in the bottom half with two of their own to cut the deficit. Jonessa Marquez plated the first runner with a bases-loaded walk before Shianne Gooley brought home the second. The visiting Falcons extended their lead with one run in both the third and fifth innings before erupting with a seven-tally streak in the final frame.
Dolores and Tori Salazar combined to register all five of AHC's hits, with the sophomore knocking two and the freshman recording three. The speedy duo also combined for five stolen bases.
