TAFT, CA – The Lady Cougars Basketball of Taft College continue to show their dominance by defeating the Barstow Vikings 75-18.

"We are very thankful in the situation we are in right now despite having some key players not playing with us due to career and season ending injuries. So for us to be winning at a high rate currently, is saying a lot about our team chemistry. I am so proud of these young women putting on a display of relentlessness and maximum effort," said Taft College Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr.

Showing a lopsided victory, Taft displayed a huge disparity in all statistical categories. The black and gold only allowed 2 points for Barstow in transition, points off turnovers, and second chance points each a piece. Taft would score 29 points in transition, 45 points off turnovers, and 15 second chance points. The Cougars also outscored their opponent 48-8 in the paint, while having 18 assists, 24 deflections, and a season high of 36 steals.

Ella Waufle led the game with 21 points, shooting a career high 5-7 from beyond the arc, while dishing out 4 assists and collecting 4 steals. Mary Pahukoa and Amaya Payne scored 12 points apiece. Alyah Blackwater scored 11 points and had a game high of 6 assists. Pahukoa, Payne and Blackwater each had 6 steals. Madyn Kassatly had a game and career high of 7 steals. Kahree Horton pumped in 8 points.

Taft will play their last home game before the end of the fall semester on Wednesday, December 11 against Copper Mountain College. They will finish the month playing away games against Los Angeles Trade Tech on Friday and Allan Hancock College on Saturday.
