Taking on Cypress College in a non-conference road game on Saturday, the Cerritos College softball team was limited to four hits in a 2-0 loss. The setback snapped a three-game winning streak for the Falcons (17-5), who resume South Coast Conference play on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Los Angeles Harbor College.

The Chargers (18-4) scored their two runs in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out double by Giselle Delcastillo off freshman starting pitcher Tatyana Cortez (La Serna HS). The state leader in strikeouts, Cortez (11-5) allowed just three hits on the day and struck out four batters.

In the top of the third inning, freshman outfielder Amarie Encarnacion (Norwalk HS) singled with one out and advanced to second base on an error. With a pair of runners on base, but sophomore catcher Vicky Najera (El Rancho HS) and sophomore outfielder Morgan Fontela (Long Beach Millikan HS) popped up to end the inning.

The Falcons received singles from freshman third baseman Marley Cortez (Gahr HS) and sophomore designated player Briana Zarate (Legacy HS/Compton College) in the sixth inning, while the two each advanced a base on a passed ball. However, outfielder Carissa Amaya (El Rancho HS) flew out for the third out of the inning
