SANTA ANA, Calif. - Andrew Parker had his best performance of the season, earning his first win as the Santa Ana College Baseball team completed a series sweep against the LA Valley Monarchs (3-8) with a 10-1 win on Thursday afternoon.
Parker, a sophomore bounce back out of Foothill High, struck out four batters in six innings of work while only giving up one run which came in the second inning. It was a much needed result for the CSUN transfer after starting the season with three losses.
"It's a good team win. We've been grinding, trying to get back above .500 and I'm just glad to get a win," said Parker when asked about his day. "I've got trust in my stuff, I've got trust in everyone behind me, the coaching staff and they believe in me to go out and do my job."
Santa Ana's offense provided him with run support early and often, scoring four in the second inning thanks to big hits from Nathaniel Williams and Christian Altamirano. The two infielders combined for five RBI, four hits and two walks.
The Dons (6-5) added another run in the fifth before opening up the game in the later innings while Spencer Johnsen (2.0IN/5SO) and Ernie Gonzalez (1IN) kept the Monarch bats quiet.
SAC will be back at home on Saturday to host College of the Canyons (1-8) at 1:00 p.m. The Dons defeated COC 5-3 in 13 innings in the first game of the series on February 15th.
