Butte Rallies Past College of the Siskiyous for 14-7 Victory
The Butte College Roadrunners overcame an early deficit to defeat the College of the Siskiyous Eagles 14-7, improving to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in Golden Valley Conference play, tying for the conference lead.
Siskiyous jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first two innings. Butte responded in the fourth with an offensive explosion. Carter Imbach got things started with his first home run of the game. After a Ryan Pearson walk and a bunt single by Alonso Rivera, Aidan Santos drove in Pearson with an RBI single. Grant Sonke followed with a two-run triple, and when the throw to third got away, he came home to score. Jason Olsen later doubled and was driven in by Jack Howsley, capping a six-run inning to put Butte ahead.
Siskiyous briefly regained the lead in the fifth, pushing across four runs to go up 7-6, but it would be their final scoring of the day. In the bottom half of the inning, Rivera reached base, stole second and third, and came home on a fielding error, tying the game at 7-7.
Butte took control in the seventh, as Sonke walked and stole second, followed by walks to Trent Van Nuys and Olsen to load the bases. Imbach delivered an RBI single to put the Roadrunners ahead, and a sacrifice fly by Drew Carrington brought in another run for a 10-7 lead.
The eighth inning sealed the victory, as Imbach crushed his second home run of the game, a three-run shot, giving him five RBIs on the day and extending the lead to 14-7.
Jack Walden earned the win for Butte, tossing four strong innings while allowing just one run in relief.
